The following is an excerpt from a letter written to my children at Christmas time 2006:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” John 3:16-17
I love my Heavenly Father. He has been so gracious to me. Despite my sins and errors, he has taught and blessed me, and I am a better man today because of it. He sent his Son to show me the way to find joy in this life, and joy and glory in the next. I look forward to meeting my love ones and my Heavenly Father when that time comes.
I love Jesus Christ. He is my exemplar and friend, and my savior. I am trying to follow him and live as he lived. I know I have a long way to go, but I know its possible and it is happening.
I have the opportunity to serve in the Lord’s true church. I hold his priesthood, and with his permission I can speak in his name and do his work among my family and friends.
